The Internal Revenue Service and the Town of Farragut will sponsor Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) at Farragut Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Friday from Feb. 9 to April 13. This service is free and no appointment is necessary - volunteers will assist on a first come, first served basis. Farragut Town Hall is located at 11408 Municipal Center Drive, across from the Farragut Branch Post Office. Please note the change of start date and time from other published notifications of this service. This was necessary due to the availability of volunteers.
Volunteers will complete and e-file IRS tax returns during this assistance program for lower income and senior taxpayers. Taxpayers should bring federal tax packets received; wage and earnings statements (Form W-2 from employers and form 1099-MISC from clients); interest, dividend, capital gains, pension, IRA and social security statements (Form 1099); list of items that might be considered for itemized deductions; support for other income and credits; and a copy of last year's tax return. Taxpayers should also bring social security numbers and correct birth dates for all taxpayers and dependents to be listed on the return.
In addition to the Farragut site, VITA will also be held 5 - 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 12 - April 12, at Westside Unitarian Universalist Church (616 Fretz Road).
