FARRAGUT, TN – The Town of Farragut’s Parks & Recreation Services Department was recognized with two awards at the annual Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association conference, held last week in Knoxville.
Parks and Athletics Coordinator Lauren Cox received the Distinguished Young Professional Award, which recognizes a parks department employee who exemplifies superior management and leadership skills and a commitment to excellence in parks and recreation. She was nominated by Farragut Parks & Recreation Director Sue Stuhl.
Cox was nominated because she’s a fantastic parks and rec professional, says Stuhl.
“We’re lucky to have someone who really believes in parks and rec as a profession and as a community benefit.”
Cox, who is currently vice president of TRPA, was surprised to win the award because she didn’t know she’d been nominated.
“Some of my mentors have won this award, so it’s awesome to be put in the same category as them.”
The department also received the TRPA President’s Cup Award, which is presented to member agencies that provide exemplary service to TRPA though attendance at state conferences and service to the organization.
Incorporated in 1980, the Town of Farragut has top schools, safe neighborhoods and high development standards, making it one of the best places to live in the Southeast.
