The Town of Farragut and Covenant Health will sponsor a Covenant Health Check on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Farragut Town Hall. No appointment is necessary.
The following free health screenings will be offered: blood pressure, body composition, bone density, 3-lead EKG (electrocardiogram), hemoccult (colorectal cancer), vision, brake pedal and balance. Participants can also choose to have various blood tests done for a fee between $15 and $20 each. Tests available include a blood chemistry profile test (chemistry profile, cholesterol levels and liver enzymes), a complete blood count test (blood cell breakdown), a PSA test (prostate - for men only), a CRP test (heart health) and a thyroid function test. In order to insure accuracy, those choosing to have any blood tests should not eat or drink for 12 hours prior to the tests. However, medications may be taken as usual. Participants that choose to have a bone density test should wear shoes and socks that can be easily removed.
Attendees can also receive helpful medical information regarding the following topics at booths throughout the Town Hall: allergies and asthma; cancer care; stroke; homecare services; and smoking cessation.
The Farragut Town Hall is located at 11408 Municipal Center Drive across from the Farragut Branch Post Office. For more information, call Anne LaGrow at 966-7057 or visit www.townoffarragut.org.
