The Town administrator serves as an appointed chief executive who is responsible for the supervision and coordination of all Town services and projects.  His duties include authorization of employee appointments, supervision of Town departments, preparation of annual budgets, financial management of Town revenues and expenditures, authorization of purchases, administration of Town contracts, recommendations and updates to the board on Town services and projects, implementation of board policies, and enforcement of Town ordinances.

 

The Town of Farragut has an outstanding professional staff that is dedicated to providing quality services to Farragut citizens. Information about these services and Town departments is presented on the following pages.  Please contact the Farragut Town Hall for assistance or information on a Town service.  Our staff is proud to be a part of Farragut's progress and to provide assistance to our citizens.

 

The Administration Department is responsible for serving as staff support for the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the Personnel Committee.  Additional duties of the administrative staff include the following:

 

Budget Administration and Financial Management - The budget for the Town of Farragut runs from July 1 - June 30.  The budget is approved by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in May of each year.  Proposed budgets will be advertised in the farragutpress prior to the vote by the board.  Audited budget information for fiscal year 2009 is presented in the Finances section of this publication.  Detailed budget information for fiscal year 2010 is available at the Town Hall and on the Town website (www.townoffarragut.org).

 

Citizen Request Program - The Town offers Farragut citizens a unique program that encourages suggestions or complaints about all Town services, from streets to parks.  After a request has been filed by a citizen (by mail, e-mail, phone or in person), it is forwarded to the appropriate department for action, and the citizen will receive an initial letter within 72 hours with a request number for future reference. After review by the appropriate department, citizens receive a final letter explaining what action will be or has been taken. The Town is unable to take anonymous requests, and all information about a request is public record.

 

Personnel - The Town of Farragut employs 44 full time staff positions, three contract staff  positions and 15 to 20 seasonal staff positions. Openings are filled as needed and are often advertised in the Sunday employment section of the Knoxville News Sentinel and on the Town website (www.townoffarragut.org).

 

Website - Information available on the website includes Town meeting agendas and minutes, Town services, development information, residential information, contact information including the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, events, parks and greenways, Town finances and other areas of interest to Farragut citizens.  The website address is www.townoffarragut.org.

 

Televising of Meetings - Meetings of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the Municipal Planning Commission are televised live on the Town's government access channels (Charter and TDS).

 

Record Keeping - The official records of the Town are kept by the Town recorder.

 

Town Ordinances -The Farragut Municipal Code and the Farragut Zoning Ordinance are updated annually. Copies are available for review at the Town Hall and on the Town's website (www.townoffarragut.org).

 

Alcohol Permits - Permits are required for the sale of beer or liquor in the Town.  Applications are available from the Town recorder. To obtain a liquor permit, call the Knoxville Alcoholic Beverage Commission at (865) 594-6342.
