PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT                            

The Public Works Department provides various services relating to public facilities within the Town of Farragut.  Services include:

Street Maintenance - Maintenance of designated street lights, placement of street signs, placement and maintenance of traffic signs and signals, litter control, emergency patching, string trimming and response to emergency situations are all part of street maintenance.  In addition, repair and reconstruction of curbing, in conjunction with street resurfacing, is largely handled by the Town of Farragut.

Park and Public Facility Maintenance - The Town currently maintains three parks - Anchor Park on Turkey Creek Road, Campbell Station Park on Campbell Station Road and Mayor Bob Leonard Park on Watt Road - and will be adding a fourth park now under construction on McFee Road in 2008. The Public Works Department also maintains the Town=s greenways, publicly owned open spaces, future parkland, the Farragut Town Hall and the Public Works Facility.  This includes weekly mowing, litter control, facility cleaning, equipment repairs, seasonal field maintenance, preparation of athletic fields/venues and construction and installation of park equipment and accessory structures.

Seasonal Decorations/Landscaping - Holiday decorations including rooftop Christmas trees and special Town Hall lighting are an important part of the holiday season for the Town of Farragut and are installed by the Public Works Department. Throughout the year, the Public Works Department beautifies the Town by hanging seasonal street banners and planting annuals at the Town Hall and Town parks.

Snow Removal - In the fall of each year, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approve a snow removal plan that dictates the order that streets will be plowed in the event of a snow or ice storm. 

Rights of Way Mowing - The Town currently provides mowing services along all major rights of way.  This program also includes trimming to ensure visibility for signs and at intersections.

Drainage Projects - Public drainage projects are handled by the Public Works Department. This is in addition to the drainage projects that are part of the drainage improvement program.  This program provides an opportunity for residents to cost-share on drainage projects that are approved by the Town.
