Eric Schindler, Farragut’s new assistant town engineer, brings five years of experience with TDOT to his new job. It was a big organization, he says, and he’s looking forward to the learning opportunities he’ll have working with a smaller organization.

“I’m happy to be here and eager to learn,” he says. “This is an opportunity to learn a lot about the many different aspects of construction.”

This is a second career for Schindler, who graduated from Carson Newman with a degree in business administration. He worked for several local companies before deciding to go back to school to study civil engineering.

He graduated from UT after being in school for 10 semesters straight and worked at KUB while attending classes. The end result is a career he’s proud of, he says.

“I wanted to create a lasting impact on the community, something that I could point to and say, ‘Yeah, I was part of that.”

Eric and his wife, Sonya, live in Maryville.
