If your driver license has been lost, stolen or destroyed, you may be eligible to obtain a replacement online. Obtaining a replacement license does not change the expiration date of the original issued license. To obtain a replacement license online, visit the Online Services menu. A replacement license may also be obtained by applying in person at any driver service center. Click here for more information on applying for a duplicate or replacement license.
The TN Department of Safety mails every driver a courtesy renewal notice approximately eight to ten weeks before their license expires. Please read your renewal notice carefully. New residents or those returning to Tennessee who hold a driver license from another state must obtain a Tennessee driver license no later than thirty (30) days after establishing residency. New residents will need to go to any of our full-service driver service centers that are located throughout the state.
